This recipe is very forgiving - you can use tender or tougher cuts of beef. For tougher cuts, add 30 more minutes in the oven. You can also cook pork in the same way. Nice dinner with potatoes and green salad.

Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4.
Cut beef across the grain, finger-thick. Pound meat with mallet, place onto baking dish in one layer. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Spread onion over meat, then sprinkle with cheese.
Mix milk and mayonnaise. Pour evenly over cheese.
Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour for tender cuts of beef, or add 30 more minutes for tougher cuts.
