Grandma's treacle cookies


    Grandma's recipe for treacle cookies. The best I have ever had.

    Serves: 30 

    • 110g butter
    • 110g dark brown soft sugar
    • 160g treacle or molasses
    • 1 egg
    • 310g plain flour
    • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
    • 1/8 teaspoon salt
    • 120ml soured milk

    1. Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4.
    2. Beat butter in a bowl with brown sugar, treacle and egg, until creamy and smooth.
    3. In another bowl, combine flour, bicarb, ginger and salt; add to wet mixture, alternating with milk. Drop by spoonful on greased baking trays.
    4. Bake for 10 minutes.
