Mexican-style beef brisket braised in Prosecco

I was looking for a quick way to make a beef brisket, but the most interesting recipes I could find required types of alcohol I do not usually have around the house. So I came up with my own super-quick Mexican-style Prosecco beef brisket. Preparation time: 10 min. Cooking time: 90 min.

    1 person made this

    • 500 beef brisket
    • 150 ml Prosecco
    • 1 lime (juice)
    • 1 red onion, roughly chopped
    • 1 tbsp chipotle paste
    • 5 peppercorns
    • 10 capers
    • A pinch of dry rosemary
    • Salt and pepper
    • 1 tbsp olive oil

    1. Heat the oven to 230 degrees. Cut the beef in 2cm-thick strips and season with salt and pepper on both sides. Place the beef in a deep oven-proof dish.
    2. In a bowl, mix together the Prosecco, chipotle paste, lime juice and oil. Pour the mixture over the meat.
    3. Add the capers, peppercorns and dry rosemary, cover the dish with a lid or foil, and place in the oven for 90 min.

The chipotle paste makes the meat moderately spicy on the outside. If you prefer a milder and more uniform taste, adding just one teaspoon should do the trick.
