Buster's liver dinner

    Chicken liver and rice dinner for your furry friend. You can use lamb, calf, pig or whatever liver you can afford. You can vary the amount of and type vegetables, and rice. It may not look great to you and me, but Buster loves it and at only around 45p a portion it saves me a fortune.

    Ingredients
    Makes: 6 to 7 portions

    • 4 tubs chicken livers
    • 1 cup rice (long grain, basmati)
    • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1 to 2 teaspoons dried herbs
    • 2 pints chicken stock

    Method

    1. Put all ingredients into a slow cooker, mix together.
    2. Put slow cooker on high for 4 to 5 hours or low all day. (If mixture starts to look too dry just add a little hot water.)
    3. Once cooked, divide between several plastic microwaveable tubs with lids. This mixture usually makes 6 to 7 meals, I freeze 4 and put the rest in the fridge. When ready to eat microwave with lid half off for 2 to 3 minutes on medium high.

    Safety note

    Don't feed this every single day as too much liver can be bad. Intersperse the liver meals with something else homemade.
