A dog's dinner or spicy beef strips

    I'll be honest, this is not the prettiest plate of food in the world but it sure is tasty. If you are peanut allergic sadly this dish is not for you but for those who like peanut butter this is one you'll love!

    Serves: 4 

    • 3 tablespoons oil
    • 2 large onions, diced
    • 450g (1 lb) steak, thinly sliced
    • 150ml (1/4 pt) beef stock
    • 300ml (1/2 pt) full fat milk
    • 110g (4 oz) smooth or chunky peanut butter
    • 85g (3 oz) mushrooms, sliced
    • 1 to 2 Scotch Bonnet chillies, seeded and finely chopped
    • 1 tablespoon Worcester sauce
    • 2 tablespoons tomato puree
    • salt and black pepper
    • chopped fresh parsley, to garnish

    1. Heat oil and brown onion in a frying pan; remove to a casserole dish.
    2. In the same frying pan, flash fry the steak on both sides and put into the same casserole dish.
    3. Put the milk, stock and peanut butter in the frying pan and bring to the boil. Simmer for 2 minutes, then pour into the casserole.
    4. Stir in all remaining ingredients. Cover and bake for 40 minutes in a preheated 190 C / Gas 5 oven, until beef is tender. Serve with boiled rice.
