Katherine Hepburn's chocolate brownies

    These brownies with chopped walnuts are quite possibly the best and gooiest brownie recipe out there!

    Ingredients
    Makes: 1 tray

    • 240g butter
    • 100g dark chocolate, at least 70% cacao
    • 4 eggs, beaten
    • 400g caster sugar
    • 2 to 3 drops vanilla extract
    • 1 pinch salt
    • 200g chopped walnuts
    • 90g plain flour

    Method
    Prep:20min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:50min 

    1. Preheat the oven to 170 C / Gas 3.
    2. Melt butter and chocolate in a large saucepan.
    3. When melted, add beaten eggs, sugar, vanilla, salt, walnuts and flour. Combine thoroughly.
    4. Line a brownie tin with non-stick baking parchment, and pour in brownie mix.
    5. Bake in the preheated oven until a tester inserted in the centre comes out clean, about 30 to 35 minutes.
    6. Leave to cool and then cut into chunky pieces.

    Tip

    Katherine Hepburn gave three pieces of advice:
    1. Never quit.
    2. Be yourself
    3. Don't put too much flour in your brownies!
