Elderberry liqueur

    This homemade liqueur is made from elderberry juice. Serve it on its own or mixed in cocktails.

    Serves: 3 

    • 1L unsweetened elderberry juice
    • 10 whole cloves
    • 1/2 cinnamon stick
    • zest of 1 lemon
    • 500g caster sugar
    • 1L rum (40%)

    1. Slowly bring elderberry juice, cloves, cinnamon, lemon zest and sugar to the boil in a pot. Stir till the sugar is fully dissolved.
    2. Remove from the hob and let cool. Stir in the rum.
    3. Fill into sterilised bottles and cork. Store in a cool and dark place.
