Sweet and spicy pasta bolognese

    This is the a way we make pasta bolognese here in Africa.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 4 

    • pasta of your choice
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1 small onion, chopped
    • 2 carrots, chopped
    • 2 celery sticks, chopped
    • 2 tablespoons tomato puree
    • 500g beef mince
    • 2 tablespoons red wine
    • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
    • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
    • 3 Maggi® seasoning cubes, to taste
    • salt
    • 2 tablespoons ready made Napoletana sauce
    • 1 tablespoon sweet chilli sauce
    • 1 tablespoon double cream

    Method

    1. Boil pasta according to packet directions and set aside.
    2. Place oil in a saucepan. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery and cook until soft, 4 to 5 minutes without it turning colour.
    3. Add tomato puree and mince and cook until lightly browned, 5 to 10 minutes.
    4. Add red wine, oregano, thyme, Maggi cubes, salt, Napoletana sauce, chilli sauce and cream let it boil for 5 minutes.
    5. Add the pasta and reheat for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon.
