Quick white maize meal mash

    This mash is ideal for children and fussy eaters. No energetic mashing necessary, this alternative can be ready to serve in less than 5 minutes.

    Serves: 2 

    • 100g white maize meal
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
    • chicken stock cube (optional)
    • Maggi® liquid seasoning (optional)
    • olive oil or butter and milk
    • soft minced herbs (optional)
    • grated cheese (optional)

    1. Mix the maize meal with 100ml cold water.
    2. In a 1-litre saucepan add 200ml water and flavourings of your choice: pepper, chicken stock cube, Maggi and olive oil or butter and stir until dissolved. Add the maize mix and and heat on high, whisking with balloon whisk.
    3. Whithin a couple of minutes the mixture will start to thicken. Keep whisking until the mixture comes away from the bottom of the pan.
    4. At the end if you like add soft minced herbs or cheese and stir to combine. Serve hot.
