Ginger, garlic and chilli prawn stir fry

    Simple, quick and tasty recipe for a prawn stir fry using frozen king prawns.

    Serves: 2 

    • 1 teaspoon tomato puree
    • 1/2 teaspoon chilli flakes
    • 1 teaspoon rice wine or dry sherry
    • 1 teaspoon honey
    • 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
    • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
    • cooking oil for frying
    • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
    • 1 clove garlic, crushed
    • 4 spring onions, chopped
    • 180g king prawns (I use frozen)

    Prep:5min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:15min 

    1. Add tomato puree, chilli flakes, rice wine, honey, soy sauce and sesame oil in a bowl and stir till smooth.
    2. Add a little cooking oil to pan, bring to medium high heat and fry the ginger, garlic and spring onions until softened, 1 to 2 minutes.
    3. Add the prawns and continue frying for a further 1 to 2 minutes, stirring often.
    4. Add the sauce and fry until prawns are no longer translucent and well heated through, about 2 minutes.

    Actually, my wife loved it. I'm not a great fan of prawns but my wife loves them and I made her this dish and she loved it. She didn't even save any for me to try.  -  08 Feb 2018
