Chinese sweet and sour sauce with pineapple


    You can easily make your own Chinese sweet and sour sauce with pineapple juice. Adding some pineapple chunks at the end is optional.

    Serves: 4 

    • 250ml canned pineapple juice
    • 170g soft brown sugar or caster sugar
    • 6 tablespoons white wine vinegar
    • 4 tablespoons ketchup
    • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
    • 2 tablespoons cornflour mixed with a little water
    • 3 to 4 drops food coloring( optional)
    • pineapple chunks (optional)


    1. Place all ingredients except the cornflour in a saucepan and bring to the boil.
    2. Add your corn flour mix and cook on low till thickened, stirring.
    3. Put in a container and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
