Victoria's Bolognese

    Better than any jar of Bolognese, I go for homemade every time.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 4 

    • 1 onion
    • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
    • 1 carrot, greated
    • 6 to 8 mushrooms, sliced (optional)
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 500g mince
    • 1 glass red wine (optional)
    • 1 (200g) tube of tomato puree
    • 1 (400g) tin chopped tomatoes
    • 1 beef stock cube
    • Maggi® seasoning
    • 1 tablespoon oregano
    • 1 handful fresh basil or 2 teaspoons dried basil
    • salt and pepper

    Method

    1. Fry your onion, garlic, carrots and mushrooms in olive oil for about 10 minutes.
    2. Next add your mince and fry until browned.
    3. If using wine add this now and cook for a further few minutes.
    4. Add the rest of your ingredients with a cup of water and let simmer for 90 minutes stirring occasionally.
    5. Serve with your favourite pasta or baked potatoes.
