These savoury muffins are not only great for brunch, they are also good to accompany soup or salad and you can make them on a whim for dinner.

200g plain flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
100g grated Emmental cheese
100g boiled ham, cubed
60g butter, softened
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

Preheat oven to 200 C / 180 C fan / Gas 6. Line a muffin tin with paper cases.
Mix flour and baking powder in a bowl. Add cheese and ham and stir to mix.
In another bowl beat milk with butter and quickly stir into flour mixture, do not overmix.
Divide the mixture among 12 muffin cases and bake int the preheated oven till golden and firm about 15 to 20 minutes. Let cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then unmould onto a wire rack and let cool completely.
