Pears poached in cranberry juice

    I love poached pears but wanted to make a version without using wine or any alcohol so I used cranberry juice. The pears taste different, but still delicious!

    Serves: 4 

    • 4 large pears (or 8 small pears)
    • 100g granulated sugar
    • 1 cinnamon stick
    • 350ml cranberry juice
    • 350ml water

    1. Peel the pears and slice them into quarters; arrange pears in a layer in a large saucepan. Add sugar and cinnamon stick. Pour over cranberry juice and water to cover the pears completely.
    2. Bring up to the boil; simmer for 2 to 2 1/2 hours over low heat.
    3. Serve the poached pears hot and cold.
