Slow cooker plum butter

    The slow cooker is great for making plum butter, and this is a low sugar recipe but make sure to use only plums that are are very ripe and naturally sweet.

    Ingredients
    Makes: 2 jars

    • 2kg ripe plums, pitted and chopped
    • 50g caster sugar or light brown soft sugar
    • 1 pinch ground cloves
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

    Method

    1. Add all ingredients to your slow cooker and set to low. Cook for 14 hours, and check every so often for liquid. The plum butter is ready when a spoon leaves a trace. The plum butter will get firmer as it cools so don't overcook it. Fill in sterilised jars.
