About this recipe:This is my version of mulled wine.
5 tablespoons demerara sugar
500ml pineapple juice
200ml orange juice
6 whole cloves
3 whole allspice berries
2 cinnamon sticks
1L red wine
8 cinnamon sticks, garnish

In a large non-aluminium saucepan, combine water, sugar, pineapple juice and orange juice. Season with cloves, allspice and 2 cinnamon sticks. Cut the rind of 2 oranges into strips and stir into the mixture. Bring to the boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for 15 minutes.
Pour in the wine. Heat to just boiling and remove from heat. Serve hot with a cinnamon stick for garnish.
