Crunchy chocolate squares

    A gorgeous chocolatey crunchy biscuit-like treat which kids will love as well as adults.

    Serves: 10 

    • 90g (3 oz) sugar
    • 90g (3 oz) coconut
    • 60g (2 oz) cornflakes
    • 150g (5 oz) plain flour
    • 2 tbsp drinking chocolate
    • 170g (6 oz) margarine, melted
    • For the topping
    • 225g (8 oz) icing sugar
    • 2 tbsp drinking chocolate
    • a few drops of cold water

    1. Crush the cornflakes if you wish and mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl. Add the melted margarine and mix well.
    2. Grease a 20cm (8 inch) square baking tin. Put mixture into the tin and press down firmly.
    3. pre-heat oven to 190 C / Gas 5 and bake in the centre of oven for 20-25 mins.
    4. Leave to cool. Do not turn out of baking tin until it's cool otherwise it will crack.
    5. Mix the icing sugar and drinking chocolate with a few drops of water to make a thick topping.
    6. When cold, spread the topping evenly over the top and put in the fridge to set. When set cut into even squares.
