    About this recipe: Everyone has their own version - this is the one I make most weekends, especially if there are guests or I've over-indulged with drinks the night before.

    Serves: 1 

    • 1 tablespoons vegetable or olive oil
    • 1 pork sausage
    • 2 thick rashers back bacon
    • 1 tomato, cut in half
    • 4 mushrooms, sliced
    • 1 egg
    • 1 slice white bread
    • 1 teaspoon butter, or as needed

    Prep:5min  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Ready in:25min 

    1. Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the sausage. Fry until browned on one side, about 5 minutes. Turn it over to fry on the other side and add the tomato, bacon and mushrooms.
    2. When the tomato, bacon and mushrooms are just about cooked, crack the egg into the centre and allow to cook. You might want to add a little more oil just to crisp the edges. Toast the slice of bread while the egg cooks and then spread butter on it. Serve everything on a plate with the toast on the side.

    Apart from the hash brown, this is pretty accurate. Our fry ups consist of sausage, bacon, tomato (whole canned will do at a push, though fresh is the way to go), mushrooms, egg (scrambled for me, fried for Husband), fried bread, and Heinz baked beans. I top my eggs with Heinz ketchup, and serve with a huge pot of steaming PG Tips. Cheers!  -  29 May 2006  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)


    A few things. It's important to use Heinz baked beans in a teal blue can. Also, get back bacon from the butcher if possible instead of strip bacon.
