Serves: 2
- For the gratin
- 2 potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 stalks broccoli, chopped
- 420g (1 lb) sirloin steak, trimmed and cut into strips
- Salt and pepper, to season
- For the cheese sauce
- 8 tbsp double cream
- 8 tbsp crumbled Cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper, to season

- Preheat the oven to 220 degrees C (Gas Mark 7).
- Heat a pan of boiling water with salt and cook the diced potatoes for five minutes. Add the broccoli and cook for a further few minutes. Drain, place in a gratin dish and season with salt and pepper.
- Heat a griddle pan until it's very hot. Season the steak with salt and pepper. Cook the steak for two minutes and then place on top of the potatoes and broccoli.
- To make the cheese sauce, place the double cream in a saucepan and bring to a simmer. Let it reduce and stir in the crumbled cheese. Season and pour the cheese sauce over the steak and potatoes.
- Bake in the preheated oven until bubbling, about 20 minutes.

Decided to try a new recipe for dinner, This was delicious! Went done wonderfully. I would suggest using cauliflower instead of broccoli though, as that tends to go better with cheese sauce Will definitely be eating again! - 10 Dec 2012
