Mango with lime-chilli sugar

About this recipe: This is a great dessert recipe after you have had maybe a spicy dish or after fish.

Serves: 4 

  • 3 mangos
  • 2 dried chillies or 1 dessertspoon of crushed chilli flakes
  • 2 tbsp of caster sugar
  • 1 lime
  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream

  1. Peel the skins and remove the stones from the mangos, then slice them and place in a bowl.
  2. Zest the whole lime and set aside.
  3. Arrange the mango slices on a serving platter or plate. Put the dried chillies and a little of the sugar in a mortar or mixer and pound to break up the chilli.
  4. Add the rest of the sugar and the lime zest. Pound until the sugar becomes speckled green.
  5. Sprinkle the sugar over the mango slices and help yourself to vanilla ice cream to finish it off.
