About this recipe: Just one of these will warm you up - a great drink at night if you have a sore throat.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 1

    • 8 whole cloves
    • 1 thick slice of lemon
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • boiling water
    • 1 shot of Irish whisky

    Method
    Prep:5min  ›  Ready in:5min

    1. Press cloves into the peel of the lemon slice all the way around. Set aside.
    2. Spoon the sugar into a wine glass. Place a metal spoon into the glass with the curved side facing upwards. Pour the boiling water over the back of the spoon. This will keep your wine glass from shattering. Stir to dissolve the sugar. Pour in the whiskey and add the lemon slice. Let steep for about 1 minute before drinking.

You don't have to have a sore throat to enjoy this. Just drink it because it's tasty. If you have one before retiring for the evening, it'll definitely help put you to sleep. - 19 Mar 2012

I lose my voice once a week at least (job is heavy in talking) and this was wonderful for a sore throat! I will be having this weekly. - 17 Mar 2012

This was fantastic! I didn't use quite as much sugar, and it was still really tasty. A nice warm up on a chilly day. - 11 Mar 2012
