Apple scones

    This has a terrific aroma and taste. These scones are perfect for tea.

    Serves: 12 

    • 250g plain flour
    • 4 tablespoons caster sugar
    • 2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 50g butter, chilled
    • 1 apple - peeled, cored and grated
    • 125ml milk
    • 2 tablespoons milk
    • 2 tablespoons caster sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

    1. Preheat oven to 220 degrees C.
    2. Measure flour, sugar, baking powder, bicarb and salt into a large bowl. Rub in butter until crumbly. Add grated apple and milk. Stir to form a soft dough.
    3. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead gently 8 to 10 times. Pat into two 15cm (6-inch) circles. Place on greased baking tray. Brush tops with milk, and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Score each into 6 wedges or stamp out into round scones.
    4. Bake for 15 minutes, or until browned and risen. Serve warm with butter.

    I haven't tried this recipe yet, but would LOVE to, problem though is converting the grams to cups, are you able to do that? I would so greatly appreciate it!  -  15 Jul 2012


    To much milk came out to moist .reduce the milk and put in another apple and it works better  -  19 Sep 2013
