About this recipe: Glögi, the Finnish version of glogg, is a fragrant and warming mulled wine. Perfect for Christmas, or all through the winter!


Serves: 8 

  • 350ml water
  • 300g caster sugar
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 75g sultanas
  • 1 bottle red wine
  • 2 lemons, juiced
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • 25g flaked almonds

  1. In a large pot, combine the water, sugar, cloves, cinnamon and sultanas. Bring to the boil, then remove from the heat and stir in the wine, lemon juice and orange juice. Heat through, but do not boil. Remove the cinnamon stick. Ladle into cups, and serve with almonds and the boiled sultanas.
