Method Prep:15min › Cook:12min › Extra time:18min › Ready in:45min
Preheat the oven to 170 C / Gas 3.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar and caster sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla. Combine the flour, bicarb and salt; stir into the creamed mixture until just blended. Mix in the oats, walnuts and chocolate chips. Drop by heaping spoonfuls onto ungreased baking trays.
Bake for 12 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Altered ingredient amounts.
As it was my first attempt I halved the ingredient amounts and also used syrup flavoured porridge oats. 12 minutes in a pre heated gas oven at mark 3 was not long enough I would say around 18 minutes. - 20 Apr 2010
Delicious cookie!! I followed the steps and ingredients exactly (only a little less salt), and my cookies didn't spread too much. Just scoop heaping spoons on the baking sheet, don't flatten them, and they will be perfectly baked after 12 minutes :-) - 31 Oct 2011
