About this recipe:
These flapjacks are a favourite in my household - filling, delicious and they couldn't be easier to make. Vary the recipe by adding cinnamon, ground ginger or different dried fruits.
150g golden syrup
450g porridge oats
75g light brown sugar
200g dark chocolate
15 min › Cook:
25 min › Extra time:
1 hr setting › Ready in:
1 hr 40 min
Preheat oven to 190 C / Gas 5.
In a small saucepan, melt butter and syrup over a low heat.
Meanwhile, in a large mixing bowl combine oats, sugar and raisins.
Stir melted butter mixture into the dry ingredients.
Pour oat mixture into 11"x7" tin.
Bake 20 - 25 minutes until golden brown. Cool in tray.
Melt chocolate either on a low heat in a microwave or over a double boiler.
Pour melted chocolate over the flapjacks and smooth with palette knife. Leave to set.
Cut flapjacks into slices and store in an airtight container.
I followed this to the recipie, and was so easy to do. Although i thought the amount of chocolate was not enough to layer over the top of flapjack. good recipie.

these are soo easy to make, i didnt add the raisins as my kids dont like them,

Pretty good, other than the volume of oats seems about a third too much (I used 300g, stirring into the mixture, rather than adding the mixture to the oat mountain).
Might need more depending on how fine the oats are (I used large flake).
