Chocolate fudge icing

    This is delicioius. It's not as sickly as buttercream but is much nicer than plain glace icing. It sets, but not too solidly, so it's in between butter icing & glace. This makes enough to ice and fill and 8inch cake.

    Serves: 1 

    • 2oz butter or margarine
    • 2 tablespoons milk
    • 2 tablespooons cocoa
    • 8oz sifted icing sugar

    Prep:5min  ›  Cook:5min  ›  Ready in:10min 

    1. Put butter, milk & cocoa into a saucepan & heat gently until it's all mented and mixed together. Take it off the heat and allow to cool slightly.
    2. Add the icing sugar - about a quarter of it at a time - then beat until smooth.

    Yum! This was sooo good! Really easy to make, although I had to be fast when icing my cake, it seems to start to set very quickly! Which was fine, as I didn't have to wait too long to eat it afterwards!  -  21 May 2011


    this recipe is delicious; not too sickly but lovely and sweet and sets quickly so minimal dripping! i was rushing and didn't sieve the icing sugar and cocoa thinking 'how important can that be?' ... turns out very so i had tiny white lumps of icing sugar and cocoa in mine yet still tasted fab. goes very well with the hot milk chocolate cake recipe on this site in case anybody is looking for something to bake recipe made just enough to cover and fill a 9" two layer cake.  -  03 Mar 2013
