Grilled grapefruit

    20 min

An easy way to enjoy grapefruit. You can always add less sugar and butter each time you make it. Before you know it - you'll be eating grapefruit with just a sprinkling of sugar and cinnamon.

    Serves: 8

    • 4 grapefruits
    • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
    • 1 tablespoon caster or brown sugar
    • 4 teaspoons butter

    Prep:15min  ›  Cook:5min  ›  Ready in:20min

    1. Preheat the oven grill.
    2. Cut the grapefruits in half, and use a small serrated knife to cut out the sections in the halves. Spoon the sections and juice into a bowl, then scrape out all of the remaining thick skins and pulp. Spoon the sections from the bowl back into the halves. This is best done one half at a time.
    3. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over the top of each grapefruit half, about 1/2 a teaspoon or less on each. Dot with butter, if desired. Place the halves on a baking tray.
    4. Grill for 3 to 5 minutes, until the butter is melted and sugar is starting to turn brown.

An original way to eat your grapefruit.  -  20 Mar 2010

I just cut the grapefruit in half and put the toppings on (that is what the original recipe calls for) because I find it easier to scoop out the flesh when it is warm and softer.  -  18 Mar 2006  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)

Simple and delicious! I usually just eat these things cold with a bit of Splenda, but this was really nice change. I just cut the grapefruit in half, cut it into sections and loosed it - didn't bother with anything else. I used Land O Lakes light butter and added a little nutmeg along with the cinnamon. Very easy and very good!  -  24 Mar 2011  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
