Easy peasy apple crumble

    Stewed apples are topped with a buttery sweet crumble and baked to perfection. Enjoy with lashings of cream, ice cream or fresh custard.

    Serves: 4 - 6

    • 1kg apples, roughly chopped
    • 200g caster sugar
    • 125g plain flour
    • 1 teaspoon mixed spice
    • 80g butter, melted

    1. Cook apples in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until soft and slightly mushy.
    2. Meanwhile, make the crumble. Combine the sugar, flour, spice and butter. Stir with a wooden spoon and set aside.
    3. Transfer apples to a baking dish. Top with crumble and bake at 180 C / Gas 4 for 40 minutes or until golden brown on top.

    well bit short and sweet whole recipe.followed easy instructions but the crumble was too soggy.and it took over an hour to cook and suggest a bit higher temp and also not knowing what shelf to put it on. but was nice even tho the apples took ages to boil,.  -  23 Aug 2017
