    About this recipe: Stewed apples are topped with a buttery sweet crumble and baked to perfection. Enjoy with lashings of cream, ice cream or fresh custard.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 4 - 6

    • 1kg apples, roughly chopped
    • 200g caster sugar
    • 125g plain flour
    • 1 teaspoon mixed spice
    • 80g butter, melted

    Method

    1. Cook apples in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until soft and slightly mushy.
    2. Meanwhile, make the crumble. Combine the sugar, flour, spice and butter. Stir with a wooden spoon and set aside.
    3. Transfer apples to a baking dish. Top with crumble and bake at 180 C / Gas 4 for 40 minutes or until golden brown on top.
