Maple barbecued pork

    25 min

You can buy the belly pork in a whole piece and cut it into slices or else ask your butcher to do it for you. Make sure the strips are not too thick - no more than 1cm. An interesting and tasty alternative to pork ribs.

    Serves: 4

    • 6 tbsp tomato ketchup
    • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
    • 2 tbsp maple syrup
    • 1 tsp harissa
    • 1 clove of garlic, crushed
    • 8 belly pork strips

    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:25min

    1. Mix the first five ingredients together in a clean bowl. Add more harissa if you like your meat spicy. Put the belly pork strips into the sauce and mix well. Cover and leave in a cool place for a minimum of two hours to allow the flavours to develop.
    2. Cook the strips on a hot barbecue for approximately seven minutes per side, checking the meat is thoroughly cooked before serving. Brush any left-over marinade over the pork as it cooks.

Such a quick and easy sauce to make and you can add a little spice if it takes your fancy. I added a little more maple as I like mine sweet. Love it  -  21 Feb 2016
