A favourite at kids' Halloween parties. Use a shop bought choc cake mix and icing if you're pressed for time, or use your own cake and icing recipes to prepare these cupcakes from scratch.
If you want to avoid the shop bought stuff, you can try this chocolate fairy cake recipe and this gorgeous chocolate buttercream for the icing.
Just made these for a halloween party tonight and they look great, sure the kids are going to love them! - 29 Oct 2011
These are cute. I made them for a kids' Spring party. I used two worms on each cupcake -- 1 across the middle, and 1 cut in half with each half sticking in opposite sides of the cupcake (looks like a worm going in under and coming out from under the other worm). The kids thought they were "cool." My cake mix yielded 18 cupcakes. I barely used 1 cup of "dirt" crumbs. - 27 Mar 2003 (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
This was a really dry cake - it needs something - 13 Nov 2000 (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
