Mummy cupcakes

    1 hour

I used two recipes on the site to create these cute mummy cup cakes. The kids love these cakes at Halloween. If you're short for time, use a shop bought choc muffin mix instead!

    1. Prepare the choc fairy cakes according to recipe (or use your favourite chocolate fairy cake recipe!).
    2. Prepare the icing according to the recipe (or use your favourite recipe, or even shop bought. I've also used cream cheese icing for these cupcakes).
    3. Place the icing in an icing bag or a plastic bag with the corner cut off. Pipe the icing onto the cooled cupcakes as pictured, leaving an eye shape in the middle. In the middle of the exposed eye shape on each cupcake, pipe two dots in the middle for the mummy's eyes. Place chocolate chips flat side up in the middle of each dot for pupils.

I made these yesterday however I used pre-bought vanilla buttercream icing. Mine don't look as professional as the picture (I am an amateur ice-er) so I think I will invest in a proper piping bag for the future. Despite them looking slightly like fluffy clouds they have been a massive hit in the office! Thank you for the idea!  -  29 Oct 2010

Just made these for a halloween party tonight - I have cheated and used a shop bought cake mix and buttercream as have been baking all morning but they look great and were easy to do, good idea!  -  29 Oct 2011
