Busy day chicken

About this recipe: Easiest recipe I've ever made! I received it when my eldest son was a baby -- today he is 17 and it is still a hit! Just a few minutes of preparation, and all day cooking. Dinner will be hot and ready whenever you have a chance to eat. Meat falls from the bone, and sauce can be used as a gravy for rice or chips. Enjoy!

Serves: 8

  • 1 large whole chicken
  • 375ml prepared barbecue sauce

Prep:5min  ›  Cook:9hr  ›  Ready in:9hr5min

  1. Put whole chicken, legs up, into slow cooker. Pour sauce over and inside the chicken. Cover.
  2. Cook for 8 to 10 hours on low setting. It is not a good idea to check it, as steam escapes and it takes quite awhile to reheat.

I'm confused. Where is the recipe for the bbq sauce? I can't find it on this page, or linked. I hardly think "chuck a chicken in the slow cooker, pour some sauce of your choice over it, and cook for 9 hours" qualifies as a recipe ... ??? - 16 Nov 2009

should'nt whole chicken be cooked on high as recommended? - 16 Aug 2011

made this for my kids last night but used drumsticks,1 sliced red onion,1/2 red and green pepper,1/2 jar of bbq sauce and 4tbs water, cooked on high for 4 hrs and the meat just fell of the bone,by adding the water it stops the sauce being to sharp for the kids ,well worth making. - 18 Aug 2011
