Marshmallow Rice Krispie treats

About this recipe: Perfectly simple but very moreish. Great for kids' parties or cake sales.


Serves: 24 

  • 50g butter
  • 200g white marshmallows
  • 150g crisped rice cereal

Prep:5min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Extra time:15min  ›  Ready in:30min 

  1. Melt butter or margarine in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until melted and well blended. Cook 2 minutes longer, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.
  2. Add cereal. Stir until well coated.
  3. Using buttered spatula or greaseproof paper, press mixture evenly and firmly in buttered 20x30cm tin. Cut into 5x5cm squares when cool.

Used different ingredients. I added cocoa pops instead of rice krispies. I also used half cocoa pops and rice krispies. Both have been tried and enjoyed by my 3 children. - 27 Nov 2009

you could also add a handful of melted all butter toffees to the mix, they make it super stick and sweet - 12 Jan 2013
