60g self raising flour
4 tablespoons sugar
40g desiccated coconut
60g butter or margarine
½ teaspoon vanilla
75g desiccated coconut
90g walnut pieces
225g brown soft sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder

To make the base: Sift flour into bowl. Add sugar and coconut and mix well. Melt butter over low heat and add to dry ingredients. Mix well. Press into 28x18cm baking tray. Bake in a 180 C / Gas 4 oven 10 minutes.
To make the topping: Lightly beat eggs; add vanilla, coconut, chopped walnuts, brown sugar and baking powder. Mix well. Spread over partly cooked base and bake further 25 minutes or until topping is cooked. Cut into squares and cool in tin.
