About this recipe: This is a lovely dish, looks and tastes great! I use a shop bought flan case, so it saves a lot of time! This is a very impressive dish and you can have people guessing whether you made the flan case yourself or not - which I have been asked, and been HONEST! But it's what's in it that really matters!

Serves: 4 

  • 23cm (9 in) savoury shortcrust flan case (shop-bought)
  • 225g (8 oz) cooked chicken, chopped
  • 50g (2 oz) cooked bacon, chopped
  • 150ml (5 fl oz) single cream
  • 3 eggs
  • 50 g (2 oz) mature Cheddar, grated
  • 1 tablespoon chopped chives
  • salt and pepper

Prep:30min  ›  Extra time:30min  ›  Ready in:1hr 

  1. Put the flan case on a baking sheet. Put the chicken and bacon on the base of the flan case.
  2. Mix together the cream, eggs, cheese, chives and salt and pepper to taste. Pour into the flan case.
  3. Put in the oven preheated to fairly hot (200 C / Gas 6) and bake for 30 mins, or until the filling is firm and golden brown.
