Keri's Mince and Tatties

    1 hour

This is a favourite in our house, a true 'Scottish dish'! It is cheap to make, very filling and tasty! This is for 2-3 people, but ingredients can be adapted to make more.

    • 2-3 carrots, chopped
    • 280ml gravy, using gravy granules
    • potatoes, as many as needed, peeled and chopped

    1. Brown the beef mince and onion in a large saucepan, then add the carrots.
    2. Then fill the pan of mince with cold water and bring to the boil, then turn heat down to let it simmer for about 1 hour.
    3. Meanwhile, put the potatoes on to boil for 40 mins - 1 hr.
    4. When the mince has cooked for an hour, drain using saucepan lid or collander. Add the gravy, stir into the mince, season and heat through for a few mins.
    5. When the potatoes have cooked, drain, add milk and butter and mash until lump free.
    6. Plate up the potatoes and then the mince.

Cheap and Cheerful! Easy recipe as well, You really can't go wrong. I've had a few mince and tattie recipes where the persons made it too complicated, but this one is perfect. And all I can say the smell coming from my kitchen is amazing Thank You!  -  28 Sep 2015
