Easy, decadent Crunchie® bar ice cream

    12 hours 10 min

Needing no ice cream maker, this ice cream is rich, creamy and outrageously good! No one will believe how simple it is to make. The coffee and brandy flavours aren't overpowering, they just compliment the crunchie wonderfully.

    Serves: 6

    • 1 tablespoon instant coffee granules
    • 1 tablespoon brandy
    • 600ml double cream
    • 397g tin condensed sweetened milk
    • 3 Crunchie® bars

    Prep:10min  ›  Extra time:12hr freezing  ›  Ready in:12hr10min

    1. Dissolve the instant coffee in the brandy.
    2. Add this to the cream and condensed milk, and whisk until it forms soft peaks.
    3. Stir in the crushed Crunchie® bars.
    4. Pour into a suitable container with a lid and deep freeze. There's no need to even stir it whilst it's freezing.
    5. Take it out of the freezer for 10 minutes before you're ready to serve. Or if you forget, do what I do and give it a 5 second blast on high in the microwave to soften!

For ages I have been looking for a recipe for homemade icecream that does not require an icecream maker - this one is just fabulous! SO EASY. I used two cartons of double cream (Elmlea size) and 2/3 tin of condensed milk. That is that basic icecream and I have experimented with different flavours. Crushed up crunchie is amazing, coffee and brandy also, mint choc chip, strawberry. Just add anything! It freezes well with NO CRYSTALS! It defrosts nicely and is easy to scoop. It looks very professional and is an absolute winner! Be careful when adding the condensed milk as it can be very sweet. Thank you TomsMum!!  -  13 Feb 2012
