About this recipe: An easy recipe, which can be flexible to suit your tastes. Can be served with mashed potatoes or chunky bread. Also nice as leftovers the next day, served with chips!

Serves: 4 

  • 1 clove crushed garlic
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 8-10 sausages (the cheap kind)
  • 1 tin chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tin kidney beans
  • 1 red pepper, chopped
  • 120ml passata
  • 1 handful mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 dash BBQ sauce and chilli sauce
  • 1 dash red wine
  • spices, hot sauces (optional)

  1. Fry the garlic in the oil for a minute or two, then add the sausages (whole) and cook for a few minutes until they are golden. Cut the sausages into smaller pieces, and continue to cook for a further few minutes.
  2. Turn the heat down to low, and add the tomatoes, beans, pepper, passata, and mushrooms. Stir, and simmer for a while before adding BBQ sauce, chili sauce, and wine.
  3. Add whatever other spices and sauces you like. I add a little chilli powder, cumin, or turmeric. Add salt and pepper, cover and simmer for 10 minutes until sausages are cooked through and beans are soft.
