About this recipe: simple preparation with good tasty result

Serves: 4 

  • 3 medium onions quartered
  • 1Lb of each peeled carrots, potato, parsnip, chopped into large chunks
  • 1 small - medium chicken
  • 1 tin chopped tomato
  • 1 stock cube
  • sprinkle dried mixed herbs
  • 2 cloves of garlic chopped small

Prep:15min  ›  Cook:4hr  ›  Ready in:4hr15min 

  1. line the bottom of slow cooker with the onions
  2. place the chicken on the onions (if you want it extra healthy, first skin the chicken)
  3. surround the chicken with all the prepared veg, except garlic
  4. bring the tomato to the boil with another tin full of water
  5. pour the hot tomato over the chicken & veg
  6. sprinkle the chicken with hte dried herbs & garlic
  7. add a little salt & lots of ground pepper
  8. put the lid on & leave it for 2 hours on medium setting
  9. have a look & turn it down if too high, replace the lid
  10. at end of cooking time, carefully take out the chicken & veg onto a serving plate then whizz the juice & onions to use as gravy. serve with another veg ie; cabbage or leeks in chees sauce enjoy
