Bread Machine White Loaf

    This is a very simple but hearty white bread for the bread machine. Great for sandwiches and kid's lunches.

    Serves: 10 

    • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried active baking yeast
    • 275g (10 oz) bread flour
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 tablespoon caster sugar
    • 1 tablespoon dried milk powder
    • 1 tablespoon butter, softened
    • 175ml (6 fl oz) water

    Prep:5min  ›  Cook:3hr  ›  Ready in:3hr5min 

    1. Place ingredients in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select Medium cycle; press Start. When done, remove bread from pan and let cool on a wire rack.

    Used different ingredients. Only difference that I make is I use 225ml of milk as opposed to 175ml of water. Makes a riches, tastier loaf.  -  11 Aug 2008


    I changed the contents of flour to 14oz and the yeast to 2 teaspoons and water to 8fl oz to make a bigger loaf. the rest of the ingred I kept the same. It came out great. looking forward to munching on this at lunch at work, that's if the snow stops falling!! Hope this helps anyone else  -  30 Nov 2010


    This recipe has proven to be one of the most tasty breads I've tried. It makes a petite loaf of bread that is absolutely perfect.  -  11 Aug 2008
