This dish is easy to make, and full of flavour. The chicken is incredibly tender, and the ginger, garlic and soy sauce combine to give it its authentic taste. Garnish with chopped fresh coriander.

Duck is notoriously fatty, but this method of cooking cuts down drastically on the amount of fat you eat with the meat. For a deliciously healthy meal start with a refreshing salad, then follow with the duck served with spicy or plain rice or noodles and stir-fried mixed vegetables with bean sprouts for extra colour and crunch.

Lean steak is flash-fried then added to a full-flavoured beef stock with oriental vegetables and nests of fine egg noodles in this attractive noodle-bar favourite. Delicious!

Yummy Chinese egg tarts! This recipe makes 22 (7cm) tarts. First, mix up a batch of shortcrust pastry, then fill them with egg custard and bake.

Chinese five spice seasoning is made up of cloves, anise seed, star anise, cinnamon and ginger. You can find it premixed in any supermarket. The chicken breasts are sprinkled with this spice, marinated and baked.

This is a traditional Chinese sweet rice recipe that is usually served for the Chinese New Year. This recipe was handed down to me from my dad who liked to eat this alone as a main dish, so it's a little heartier than most other sweet rice recipes. For those of you who know what Chinese sweet rice is, this is the most delicious recipe yet!

This recipe is handed down from my mum's mum. This is NOT a dessert (not sweet), but more like a 'quick bread' for the Chinese. This 'cake' is usually made and eaten during the Chinese New Year or its slices are usually found all year round as dim sum in Chinese restaurants. This cake can be kept for 1 week in the fridge (but usually it's finished within a day!!)

This is a quick, easy, healthy meal. Add a salad and light dessert and you are sure to get rave reviews. My family asks for this meal at least once a week.

Chinese noodles are double cooked, first in water until al dente and then in a frying pan until crisp and brown. If you'd like to spice things up, replace the dark sesame oil with chilli oil.

Mooli is the Hindi word for a large crunchy white radish that is used all over South and East Asia - known as daikon in Japan and by various names in China. It's sometimes available in bigger supermarkets, but you can buy it in any Asian supermarket.

All the family will love this sweet and sour casserole that makes the most of seasonal fresh plums. It's traditionally flavoured with ginger, five-spice, vinegar, soy and spring onions, and the addition of water chestnuts and cubes of sweet potato turn it into a complete, low-fat dish.
