From now on you can enjoy this delicious treat without worrying about the high fat content – the secret to golden chips is to coat them with egg white, not fat.

I'm a very, VERY basic eater and I don't do veg (except for the mighty potato) and spices are usually out of the window too. Bonanza Pie is just a nice way to jumble what I like into one dish. Those who have tried it have all reported back positively.

I was hungry one afternoon and I thought I'd make something that would be filling and satisfying with the food I was craving then. Ideal to make this in a slightly higher bowl than a normal one. We'll call this bowl 1 as you'll need 3. I prefer to use Birds Eye fish fingers, Heinz spaghetti and Smash (instant mashed potato) for its taste.

This creamy fish pie tastes luxurious but is relatively low in fat. Pungent capers and gherkins have long been favourite flavourings in Britain and bring piquant contrast to the mild, comforting tastes and textures of fish, eggs and potato.

Gooseberries arrive in early summer, just when elderflower bushes burst into creamy-white blossom. Together they make a piquant sauce for a whole salmon trout, cooked in foil to keep it deliciously moist and to ensure minimal loss of nutrients.

Quick, simple grilling is a good way to turn these low-calorie, zinc-filled treats into a regular favourite. Use lean back bacon for this dish as it is lower in fat than streaky bacon. Sweet-flavoured Wiltshire cure bacon would be ideal.

Traditionally served for breakfast, kedgeree – a dish dating back to the Raj – is ideal for brunch or a light supper. This recipe uses brown rice and yoghurt, for extra health benefits.

Avoiding the usual deep-frying method and making chips with a variety of root vegetables adds nutrients and makes this favourite a much healthier meal.

This more-ish fish crumble is comfort food at its best: smoked haddock and whiting in a smooth sauce, covered with a crisp herby topping. Serve with baked jacket potatoes, baby carrots and peas.
