This is a Pakistani dish. Whenever my mother makes this there is none left. She isn't heavy handed with spices, which makes her cooking light, yet aromatic. We usually eat this dish with warm roti, raita and finely sliced onion with a splash of lemon juice.

This is a very easy and warming stew that is perfect for the slow cooker. Easily tweaked according to your own taste and preferences. You can omit the salmon and have it as a vegetarian meal and adjust the amount of pepper depending on how hot you like it. I put this on in the morning before leaving for work and come home 9 hours later to a yummy dish! Serve with crusty bread or Jamaican sweet bread for extra authenticity.

I had some pork casserole chunks and just emptied my cupboards and fridge to make a casserole with it. Turned out gorgeous and so easy to make in one pot! The other great thing about this recipe is you can really use what ever veg you have in the fridge. I've even done it with sprouts. Nice winter warmer :)

A variety of dried beans and lentils in a jar with a recipe attached - makes a great gift. Ask your butcher for a ham hock to make the soup with. It adds good flavour.

The mild, sweet flavour and chewy texture of pearl barley is combined here with black-eyed beans and lots of colourful vegetables. A fresh-tasting tomato and mint dressing adds a summery feel to this wholesome salad. Serve on its own for lunch or supper, with some fresh fruit to follow.
