Anchovies ensure this creamy Caesar salad is loaded with flavour. The homemade garlic croutons are essential! A great way to use up old bread. Serve this as a starter or make it into a meal with the addition of chicken or salmon.

This fresh salmon pâté is simple and quick to make. Served with a refreshing watercress salad and crisp Melba toasts or thinly sliced rye bread, it is an excellent starter before a vegetable or grain-based dish.

'Tartine' is French for a slice of bread with a topping. Spread herbed goat cheese on crusty bread and toss together beetroot, avocado and greens for an usual, beautiful meal that combines warm with cool, bitter with sweet, and creamy with crisp.

This salad has the perfect combination of flavours and textures. It's fruity, sweet, tangy and crunchy. Lettuce is layered with pears, Roquefort, avocado and spring onions, drizzled with a mustard dressing and scattered with caramelised pecans. It's the perfect summer salad to be enjoyed anytime of the year. Serve as a side dish or starter.

This is a super-nutritious salad. Spinach is tossed with red onion, walnuts, feta, alfafa sprouts and pomegranate seeds in a balsamic vinaigrette. Enjoy as is or as a starter or side dish.

I love making salads and salad dressings and this combination of rocket, pear, pine nuts, pancetta and balsamic vinegar seems to impress people the most. It's so easy and delicious that this is my 'go to' salad recipe when I have unexpected guests, as it looks really 'fancy' too. The inspiration for this comes from a nice restaurant in Hamburg - where they served a salad with a crisp slice of prosciutto di Parma on top, but I make it with pancetta or even bacon, as it's easier to eat with a fork!

A variation on the classic Caesar salad, this includes chunks of tender chicken, green beans and tasty anchovy croutons, all tossed in a light creamy dressing. Serve with warmed sesame seed French bread.

This mixture of salad leaves and herbs, each with its own robust flavour, marries well with the sweetness and smooth texture of mango. The result is a salad that is colourful and refreshing, ideal as a light starter or side dish. Serve with warm mixed-grain bread or rolls.

This version of a classic salad features smoked chicken rather than oily anchovies.
